Seven Days in Europe
Before we ever landed I noticed the highways and freeways, and how everyone driving appeared to be driving, “the wrong way.” I laughed at the notion as my cousin reminded me that the British drive on the left side of the road. This action is backed up from those who traveled years ago before cars, they traveled on their left as it was easier to pull out a sword and fight approaching enemies.
We checked into our hotel and immediately headed out for the sites. I noticed how many buildings were old brick structures. London has the feel of a city that has survived over the centuries. There are countless buildings of significance such as; The Big Ben, the Windsor castle, Buckingham palace and the tower bridge bring out the historic factor in which London possesses.
Two of my favorite sites in Europe include Stonehenge and the famous Roman baths. Stonehenge is an interesting structure of stones placed in such a manner that is unknown in detail. Some say its a spiritual gathering place, others site it to be a astronomical connection with the sun. No one really knows its truth, but the display needs no introduction thanks to its captivating appearance.
The Roman baths do not share the same wonder such as those of Stonehenge, or do they? The buildings were built atop of thermal springs, saying to have healing properties which brought visitors from all over during the Roman Empire. Today, some 2,000 years later in time the Baths continue to attract tourist. I was quite amazed to see such a refurbished monument, almost in its original form.
